Property Taxes to Rise in 2018
County auditors are required by the State of Ohio to reappraise all properties once every six years and update values in the third year of the cycle. For Montgomery County that neighborhood value update took place from January-May 2017. Homeowners are scheduled to receive their new valuations for the tax year 2018 between late July and August 2017.
Homeowners who wish to appeal the new valuations may schedule an informal hearing at one of 15 locations around the county between November-December 2017, including our own Dayton Area Board of Realtors conveniently located at 1515 S. Main Street in Dayton. You can call the Property Owner Hotline at (937) 225-5096 to schedule your informal review. If your issue is not resolved informally, formal complaints with the Board of Review may be filed between January- March 2018.
According to Auditor Karl Keith, the average residence in Montgomery county has increased 6.5% in the last three years. A few have experienced double digit increases.
